Submissions

Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit manuscripts to the Indonesian Journal of Teaching in Science (IJoTIS). All submissions are assessed by an editor to determine whether they fit the aims and scope of the journal. Manuscripts considered a good fit are sent for double-blind peer review before a decision to accept or reject is made.

1. General Requirements

• Manuscripts must be written in English.
• The manuscript must be original, must not have been published previously, and must not be under consideration by another journal.
• The manuscript must be prepared using the official IJoTIS manuscript template.
• Similarity checked with Turnitin must not exceed 20%, excluding the reference list.
• All named authors must consent to being identified as authors and must have contributed substantively to the work.
• Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any third-party material (photographs, documents, datasets).
• Research involving human participants must have been approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the country in which the study was conducted.

2. Manuscript Length and Format

• Paper size A4, single spacing, margins as set in the manuscript template.
• Body text: Times New Roman 12 pt, or as specified in the template.
• Submit the manuscript file in .doc or .docx format. PDF-only submissions will be returned.

3. Manuscript Structure

1. Title - concise, informative, and free of uncommon abbreviations.
2. Authors and affiliations - full names without academic titles, institutional affiliations, and the email address of the corresponding author. These must appear only on the separate title page to preserve blind review.
3. Abstract - a single paragraph of no more than 200 words, stating the importance of the topic, the gap addressed, the objective, the method, the key findings, and the conclusion. No citations, tables, or figures.
4. Keywords - three to five keywords, arranged alphabetically and separated by semicolons.
5. Introduction - background, state of the art from recent literature, the gap, and the objective of the study.
6. Method - research design, participants and sampling, instruments and their validity or reliability, procedure, and data analysis, described in enough detail to allow replication.
7. Results and Discussion - findings presented in a logical order and interpreted against previous studies; avoid repeating table contents in the text.
8. Conclusion - answers the research objective, states implications and limitations, and suggests further research. Written as prose, not as a numbered list.
9. Acknowledgement - funding sources, grant numbers, and non-authorial contributions.

4. Tables and Figures

• All tables and figures must be numbered consecutively and cited in the text (Table 1, Figure 1).
• Table captions appear above the table; figure captions appear below the figure.
• Tables must be editable text, not images. Figures must be legible at a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.
• Figures reproduced from other sources must include a citation and evidence of permission.

5. Citations and References

• IJoTIS follows the APA 7th edition style for both in-text citations and the reference list.
• At least 80% of the cited sources should be primary sources (journal articles, research reports, theses, and dissertations).
• At least 80% of the cited sources should have been published within the last 10 years.
• Every reference must include a DOI where one exists.
• The use of a reference manager (Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote) is strongly recommended.

6. Submission Procedure

Authors must register with the journal before submitting, or log in if already registered, and then follow the five-step submission process:

1. Start - choose the section, confirm the submission checklist, and accept the copyright notice.
2. Upload submission - upload the anonymised manuscript (no author names, no identifying acknowledgements, no self-citations such as "in our previous work"), plus the separate title page and any supplementary files.
3. Enter metadata - title, abstract, keywords, complete data for every co-author (name, affiliation, country, email, and ORCID iD), and the reference list.
4. Confirmation - review and finalise the submission.
5. Next steps - the editorial office will acknowledge receipt by email.

Submissions sent by email are not processed.

7. After Acceptance

• Authors will receive galley proofs and must return corrections within the deadline stated in the acceptance letter. Only typographical corrections are accepted at this stage.
• Authors must complete and sign the Copyright Transfer Agreement.

8. Withdrawal of Manuscripts

Authors are not permitted to withdraw a submitted manuscript once it has entered the review process, as the withdrawal wastes the resources invested by the editors and reviewers. A request to withdraw must be submitted in writing to the Editor-in-Chief and requires the approval of all authors.
