Anti-Plagiarism Policy

The Indonesian Journal of Teaching in Science (IJoTIS) does not tolerate plagiarism in any form. Every manuscript submitted to the journal is screened for textual similarity before it is sent for peer review.

Screening Procedure

• All manuscripts are checked using Turnitin at the point of submission and again before final publication.
• The maximum accepted similarity index is 20%, excluding the reference list and correctly quoted and attributed material.
• Authors are strongly encouraged to run their own similarity check before submission.

Forms of Plagiarism

• Direct plagiarism - reproducing another author's text word for word without quotation marks and attribution.
• Mosaic plagiarism - paraphrasing or reordering another author's text while retaining its structure and substance, without attribution.
• Self-plagiarism - reusing substantial portions of one's own previously published work without citation and without disclosure to the editor.
• Data and image plagiarism - presenting tables, figures, or datasets produced by others as one's own.

Consequences

1. Before review. A manuscript exceeding the similarity threshold is returned to the author with the Turnitin report, or rejected outright where the overlap indicates deliberate copying.
2. During review. The review is suspended and the corresponding author is asked to explain. The manuscript is rejected where the explanation is not satisfactory.
3. After publication. The article is retracted, a retraction notice is published in its place, and the authors' institution is notified.
