Author Guidelines

Indonesian Review of Community Service welcomes original community-service manuscripts written in Bahasa Indonesia or English. All submissions must be consistent with the journal’s scope and focus on current, SDG-related community-service issues (see About / Focus and Scope). Manuscripts that fall outside the journal’s scope may be returned without review.

1. Language and Basic Format

Manuscripts may be written in Bahasa Indonesia or English.
The title, abstract, and keywords must be in English and reflect the content of the article accurately.
Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) with standard A4 paper size, 12-pt font, and double spacing.
The total length of the manuscript should be between 4,000 and 6,000 words, excluding references, tables, and figures.

2. Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should follow this structure:

Introduction

Present the background, problem statement, and significance of the community-service activity. Explain the gap in practice or research that the service addresses and state the objectives or expected outcomes.

Literature Review (Optional)

Provide a concise review of relevant theories, concepts, or previous community-service studies that support the design and rationale of the intervention.

Methodology (Pre-, During-, Post-Community Service)

The methodology section should clearly describe:

Design of the service: type of intervention (e.g., training, socialization, mentoring, social engineering, empowerment program).
Site and participants: location of the community, target group, and selection criteria (e.g., number of beneficiaries, roles, vulnerabilities).
Pre-service: preparation stage (identification of needs, planning, collaboration partners, timeline, resources).
Service implementation: description of activities, timeline, and roles of lecturers, students, and community members.
Post-service: follow-up activities, monitoring, and evaluation.
Method of data collection: techniques used (e.g., observation, interviews, focus groups, surveys, documentation).
Data analysis: how data were analyzed, including qualitative (e.g., thematic analysis) or quantitative (e.g., descriptive statistics) approaches.

Findings and Discussion

Present the main results of the community-service activity, supported by tables, figures, or short narratives where appropriate.
Interpret the findings in relation to the objectives, earlier literature, and the SDG-related context (if applicable).
Discuss strengths, limitations, and unexpected outcomes of the service.

Conclusion

Summarize the key achievements and implications of the service for the community and for future practice or policy.
Suggest directions for follow-up or replicability in similar contexts.

3. Citation and Referencing (APA-7)

All in-text citations and the reference list must follow APA citation style (7th edition).
Use author–date in-text citations (e.g., Smith, 2020; Smith & Lee, 2021).
References should be presented in alphabetical order by the author’s last name.
Only sources that are cited in the text should appear in the reference list.
Include a full reference list at the end of the manuscript, formatted according to APA-7 (e.g., journal articles, books, reports, websites).
It is strongly recommended to use a reference manager tool (e.g., Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote) to ensure consistent formatting.

4. Ethical and Administrative Requirements

Authors must ensure that the manuscript is original and has not been published elsewhere or is not under consideration by another journal.
Manuscripts must fit within the scope of the journal, specifically community-service projects that address current, context-relevant issues and show explicit or implicit relevance to the Sustainable Development Goals.
If the service involves human participants, authors should confirm that ethical considerations (informed consent, privacy, and confidentiality) have been observed.
All authors listed must have contributed meaningfully to the manuscript and endorse the final version of the article.
