Abstract

Migrant workers often face a variety of health challenges, including exposure to unhealthy work environments, stress, and lack of access to adequate health services. This article discusses community service aimed at improving the capacity of Indonesian migrant workers in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, to adopt a low-carbon lifestyle to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in health, clean energy, and climate action. The methods used in this service include identifying and analyzing the needs of migrant workers through surveys and interviews, followed by education through seminars and workshops focused on health, healthy eating, and stress management techniques. The program also includes practical activities such as exercise and implementing environmentally friendly practices, including recycling and reducing plastic usage. Evaluation was conducted to measure the impact of the program on the health and carbon footprint of migrant workers. The results show that the program raised awareness among migrant workers about the importance of a low-carbon lifestyle and positively impacted their health and the environment. Furthermore, the program provides opportunities for replication and expansion to other migrant worker communities, thereby improving quality of life and contributing to environmental sustainability.

Abstrak

Pekerja migran sering menghadapi berbagai tantangan kesehatan, termasuk paparan lingkungan kerja yang tidak sehat, stres, dan kurangnya akses terhadap layanan kesehatan yang memadai. Artikel ini membahas pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas pekerja migran Indonesia di Johor Bahru, Malaysia, dalam menerapkan pola hidup rendah karbon untuk mendukung pencapaian Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), khususnya pada aspek kesehatan, energi bersih, dan aksi iklim. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini mencakup identifikasi dan analisis kebutuhan pekerja migran melalui survei dan wawancara, diikuti dengan edukasi melalui seminar dan workshop yang berfokus pada kesehatan, pola makan sehat, serta teknik manajemen stres. Program juga mencakup kegiatan praktis seperti olahraga dan penerapan praktik ramah lingkungan, termasuk daur ulang dan pengurangan penggunaan plastik. Evaluasi dilakukan untuk mengukur dampak program terhadap kesehatan dan jejak karbon pekerja migran. Hasil pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa program berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan pekerja migran mengenai pentingnya pola hidup rendah karbon dan memberikan dampak positif terhadap kesehatan serta lingkungan mereka. Selain itu, program ini membuka peluang untuk replikasi dan perluasan di komunitas pekerja migran lainnya, sehingga dapat meningkatkan kualitas hidup dan berkontribusi pada keberlanjutan lingkungan.
